School Courses

For more then 20 years the Brampton Academy of Martial Arts has been providing secondary school students Self-Defense training.  We have developed a new series of 5 day Self-Defense Programs for you and your students to choose from which can include both testing and a grade mark at the end of the week.

Our classic ‘AMA Self Defense Program’ will take your students through one full week of theory and application with an emphasis on awareness and prevention. They will be taught common grab releases and distraction techniques to deal with standing situations and we also introduce them to
the basics of ground self defense.

The new ‘AMA Ground Defense Program’ will concentrate on dealing with a variety of situations while on the ground. Learning these self defense tactics from both Karate and Ju Jutsu, a student will discover the effectiveness of using leverage and technique over strength.

The young women in our community can face a far different type of attack situation; that is why the ‘AMA Ladies Personal Protection Program’ was created. With a distinct lecture component the students will learn about defending themselves from the ground up. An emphasis on awareness and assault prevention will remain key topics throughout this course while dealing with self defense scenarios more common to females. Among the skills acquired from this course, the students will learn how to keep the distance, strike defensively, and defend from the ground.

Developed in Japan, Karate is a Martial Art that is now practiced all over the world. The ‘AMA Karate Program’ teaches the same skills as in our classic self defense program but in a very traditional manner. This course explores the art of Karate not only as a means of physical protection but also as a tool to improve overall health while building confidence and discipline. Each class will be taught by an ‘AMA Certified Black Belt Instructor’ in traditional uniform.

While each of the 5 day programs above has been designed with one topic in mind, we understand that a class may have a specific idea of the skills and situations they would like to learn about.  With our new ‘AMA Custom Program’ a teacher can request that an original self defense program be designed to meet the needs and interests of their class.
