Mississauga Dojo
The Academy of Martial Arts Mississauga was established in March 1996 with the selection and construction of its current location. In a few weeks, the location was transformed into a Dojo, holding its first classes on April 1st. With the support of the other AMA Dojos, the AMA Mississauga quickly grew, with a sizable student body.In June of 2001, Sensei Jay presented the first generation of AMA Mississauga black belts with their Shodan. The second, third and fourth generations received their belts in June 2002, September 2003, and September 2005, respectively.
Over the years, the physical structure of the Dojo has changed drastically. The floors have seen tiles, carpet, and now Tatami. The warm-up area and now studio too has undergone renovation. Perhaps the largest change was in 2003 when the student body of the Dojo pitched in to reformat the facility and created an entirely new training hall called Dojo B.
All the renovations, upgrades and improvements, represent the natural evolution and growth of an authentic Dojo. The student’s spirit, support and commitment have remained constant since day one. Individuals and families invest their time at the Academy of Martial Arts for its positive learning environment, enthusiastic instructors, and supportive peers.
After 10 years of operation and improving people’s lives, we look forward to many more.
