Sensei M. Jay

Sempai Michelle Jay Mississauga Karate Martial Arts Instructor and Mississauga Pilates InstructorSensei Michelle Jay began her training in July 1989, under the tutelage of Shihan Brian Cyr . Originally from Windsor Ontario, Mrs. Jay came to the Brampton area at the age of 14, and is honored with the opportunity to train, and train others in the Art of Karate Do Goju Ryu. Mrs. Jay has had the privilege of traveling to and training in many different parts of the world, including Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Florida, and Detroit.

Mrs. Jay's background includes a College Education in Early Childhood Education, and has studied Tai Chi, Jiu Jitsu and Karate under the direction of Shihan Cyr . This training has allowed Mrs. Jay the opportunity to teach many women's self defense courses, at the Mississauga Dojo and at surrounding businesses. She has taught many self defense programs in the Catholic and Public School system, and most recently began teaching B.R.A.V.E. in the elementary school system. In addition to this Mrs. Jay has added to that training, by being involved for many years in Yoga, and Pilates. Certified in Stott Pilates Mrs. Jay has introduced a Pilates program into the Academy of Martial Arts schedule of classes.

Mrs. Jay feels honored to be an instructor and manager of the Academy of Martial Arts in Mississauga, Ontario, along side her husband, Sensei Ian Jay. Currently she holds the rank of 3rd degree black belt, and continues her training and dedication to the art of Karate Do, while expanding her knowledge through her other interests in Pilates and Yoga. Mrs. Jay looks forward to continuing her studies under the expert supervision of Shihan Cyr , and anticipates this teaching will assist her in her role of propagating the Martial Arts to men, women, and children for many years to come.
