Testimonials

Those who know the way have a responsibility to share their knowledge with those who are lost.

From: Mr. Elliott Michaelson – Father of Noah age 7:
Noah looks forward to every karate class.  He enjoys the teachers, has made some friends and is learning important skills. Best of all, he knows that he will only pass his belts if he truly earns it – unlike other schools that pass kids regardless of how they demonstrate their skills.

From: Mrs. Janjua – Mother of Aliya – age 10:
Karate has taught my daughter to focus and given her more self-confidence.  She is also able to follow tasks that are given to her more efficiently.  We hope this will be a long life process and hope this will help her in the future.

From: Mrs. Hanley – Mother of Jaiden – age 5:
In the three months Jaiden has been in karate, I have seen his confidence level improve when it comes to meeting people or in everyday activities.  He is more aware of his surroundings and is very vocal to express his concerns.  He enjoys coming to class and is always eager to show me what he has learned in class when we get home.  So I like to thank everyone at AMA for their help in contributing to Jaiden’s new self-confidence.

From: Derik Chica     Age: 22 (Shodan)
I have been training in the Academy of Martial Arts since I was 10 years old.  I have grown up with its mental philosophies and have seen, first-hand, the benefits of it on the mind, body, and especially spirit on my brother and myself.  From the basics to kata to the more dynamic training, everything is meant to teach something.  Now close to becoming a secondary school teacher, I see the extraordinary student-teacher relationship the Martial Arts creates.

From: Sepideh Nikmanesh – age: 18 (Advanced Brown)
To me, karate is the creation of harmony between thoughts, words and action.  When these three are carried out with the same motive, they create unity within a person.  Karate, through physical practice, meditation, goal setting and improvement create a system of unity between words, thoughts and actions, which may well be applied to daily life practice.

From: Garrett Corkery – age 16 (Brown Belt)

Karate enables me to have the energy and confidence to do what I like and whatever school requires me to do.  The group presentation skills that I learn from teaching class greatly improve my presentations in school. Karate also gives me the exercise I may not otherwise be getting.  I feel karate gives me an anchor to centre the rest of my activities around:  Would this be safe? Is it a good use of my time and energy or could I be doing something more productive?  The things I learn at the Dojo allow me to feel like I could effectively manage most situations that life could throw at me.
